Hannaford Credit and Debit Card Breach – Member Information

On March 17th, Hannaford Brothers Company announced that they had experienced a security breach that potentially compromised debit and credit cards utilized at Hannaford Supermarkets (and select Hannaford related stores) between December 7th, 2007 and March 10th, 2008.  Hannaford reports that card numbers and expiration dates were obtained during the card authorization process, but personal information such as account-holder names and addresses were not exposed.

We have been provided with a list of WRCU credit and debit cards that may have been compromised at Hannaford’s.  Unless we have already communicated by phone with a member, we will contact by mail those members whose account cards appear on the list.  The letter will outline the steps that WRCU is taking to address this matter.

Although limited card data may have been exposed in this incident, that does not necessarily mean that data related to WRCU accounts was taken or that fraud has or will occur with those cards.  Members should always review their WRCU, and other financial institution and credit card statements, to ensure that charges are accurately reflected.  If you ever see any transaction or charge that is not familiar, contact us immediately with any questions or concerns about that charge.

If you have questions about your WRCU credit or debit card, contact a Member Service Representative at 802-767-3333, 802-234-9232 or toll free at 800-891-3332.
