WRCU June 2019 Newsletter
Member Appreciation Days are Coming up in July
At WRCU we value the relationship we have with you, the member-owners of the credit union. WRCU is a member-owned and operated nonprofit financial co-operative. Yes, we are all in this together, for the good of all of us.
During the middle of July, the WRCU staff will be hosting a series of member appreciation lunchtime cookouts at each branch location. We hope that you can come and join us for light fare and pleasant company. Get a chance to chat and have lunch with CU staff and other members in a casual atmosphere.
The planned schedule is:
Monday, July 15th in Randolph
Tuesday, July 16th in Rochester
Wednesday, July 17th in Bethel
Event time is 11:00 to 1:00 each day. Hope to see you there!
In the event of severe weather, we may have to re-schedule. Keep an eye on Facebook and on our website for more information as the dates approach.
Music to Your Ears
If you have been coming into any of our offices lately you might have noticed how nice the music is. We have subscribed to a commercial-free music steaming service and some good quality wireless speakers that fill the room with sound without being too loud. We try to choose good music from decades of popular songs, not generic “elevator music”.
Not only is the music for the enjoyment and relaxation of both members and staff, the ambient sound is there to help protect your privacy while doing transactions at the windows. The MSR and member can hear each other, but your transaction dialog does not go any further, thanks to Bruce Springsteen, Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel and the rest.
On your next visit to one of our offices, please let an MSR know what you think of the new WRCU soundscape.
2019 WRCU Scholarship Recipients
Every year, WRCU has given a scholarship to a college-bound senior from one of the regions three high schools. Since Act 46 was passed, resulting in the consolidation and mergers of schools, and changes to where students attend high school, the three annual scholarships are no longer school-based; they are now open to all graduating seniors living in the WRCU service area who plan to attend an accredited institution of higher learning or an accredited trade or advanced training program. The applicants must be WRCU members, and be graduating from a school anywhere in the state or a homeschool program.
In order to apply for the scholarship, we ask that the student write a short essay on a topic chosen by the credit union. This year’s topic asked how the student performs financial transactions, and what they see as the future method of financial transactions. (All the students think check-writing is a thing of the past, with electronic transactions being the future.)
Congratulation from all of us to Keene State College bound Brianna McLlarkey of Randolph, and future Husson University student Zachary Whitmore of Randolph Center, this year’s scholarship recipients. Based on the quality of your essays we are sure that you will excel in the next chapter of your academic journey!
